Then we shopped around a little in the souvenir type shops so I could get some gifts and we stopped by the market again to get some of Ben's Cookies which are basically legendary within the UGA at Oxford program. I got a chocolate chip and it was SO. good. It was gooey on the inside and the chocolate was really good.. but it needed more chocolate chips. I'm going to try to bring some back to the States because I know my family will like them.
I noticed a Banksy print downtown today and it made me so excited!! I've seen a few of his things in stores on bags, pictures, tshirts, etc. but I had yet to see an actual one of his prints. If you haven't heard of him you should definitely Google it and watch "Exit Through the Gift Shop" it's SO interesting. (Thanks to Andy for introducing it to me.)
Next up was a trip into London to see "As You Like It" at the Globe. First was dinner though at Founders Arms pub. It was the most delicious thing I've had here so far. I was worried I wouldn't like the food here but I have loved everything! I got the Founders Cheeseburger (no American cheese here..) with Chips (french fries). I am kind of craving it again now. But what was even better than the food was the cider I got.. which is now my favorite drink of all time over Root Beer even (maybe). It's Strawberry Lime Cider. Like bubbly Capri Sun, but even better.
Our dinners here have been so fun because the whole group will eat together and I love getting to know everyone else. I laughed so hard tonight at dinner and it's really awesome to make friends with people outside your own little circle and that can be so similar and so different from you. It's so weird to realize little connections and common friends with people you've never known. UGA really isn't as big as it seems, and neither is the world for that matter!
After 2 hours of talking, laughing, sharing plates, taste testing each other's drinks, creating future fashion lines, and quoting Dane Cook it was time for the play. And the bad news was only half of us could sit during the play. Hence the title of this post.. "Groundlings" are the people who stand on the floor at the Globe. So most of the girls decided to stand first half in case it was raining second half.. and that plan worked perfectly. It POURED the second half, while we were covered and seated thankfully. Standing for an hour and a half was not fun. The play was great and funny, but I got tired during the middle and ready to get back to the house. It was awesome to be where Shakespeare once was and has been performed for so long.
