First Day Exhaustion: Check

FINALLY, after 32 hours of being awake, I'm laying in bed about to go to sleep.

Touching down in England was one of the greatest feelings ever since I was SO ready to get off that plane and get on with my trip. 8 hours is the longest flight I've taken to date and I definitely wouldn't want to repeat it too many times. After walking through the ghost town that is Gatwick airport, we had to figure out how we were going to get to our house, which was no easy feat.

We decided the bus would be the best way, so we had to get to an ATM for some British pounds and wait an hour (yes an hour) for the right bus to come. Then, once on the bus, we didn't arrive in Oxford for 2 more hours. Then we had to take a taxi to our house. It was confusing to say the least, but we made it to 104 safe and sound and on time.

Our House
After getting our room assignment, we headed out to Summertown to go to the grocery store for lunch. We went to Marks and Spencer which is probably one of the greatest grocery stores I've ever been in. I got a chicken, tomato and basil pasta with an apple juice. So delicious.
When we got back we had about an hour left until our walking tour of Oxford so I took a much needed 45 minute cat nap. I could have slept all night and into the morning, but we had stuff to do. So we headed out for the City Centre where all the shopping and colleges and churches are.

Some of the shopping: I was really surprised at how great the shopping was in the city centre! Definitely going back there to shop soon.

This is where the infirmary scene was filmed in Harry Potter!

After the exhausting walk and purchase of a bath towel, we came back to the room to get ready for dinner. I video chatted with my dad and my sister and then we headed out to the local Indian restaurant for some din-din. I have never had Indian food before, nor have I ever really wanted to, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I couldn't tell you what I ordered but it was delicious! And the Naan was soo yummy. It was so fun to be silly with all the other students on the trip! We were probably just really silly because we were so tired but I laughed a lot.

Finally, after the 4 hour dinner, we got back home around 10:30 (and it still wasn't dark outside, so weird). I video chatted with my mom and now I'm about to have a glorious sleep before classes start up tomorrow. Wish me luck!

A hot air balloon before dinner.
